Volunteer

Volunteers’ work is the engine that keeps Wesley House moving forward in our work to minister to the lives of people in need. Below you can find information on our volunteer needs and learn more about the many ways you can help. These opportunities all have one thing in common: they provide needed help to our clients and an enriching experience for those who volunteer. INDIVIDUAL OPPORTUNITIES

Tutor/MENTOR

Description:  Wesley House kids thrive when they receive one-on-one time with a volunteer.  Grades, behavior and self-esteem improve when kids know they are cared for by someone outside of their own family.  No experience needed.
Weekdays:  flexible (one day a week)
Time of day:  afternoon (3:00 - 6:00 p.m.)
Hours per week/bi-weekly:  1
Positions needed:  unlimited

Craft Volunteer

Description:  Plan and lead a craft project with kids.
Weekdays:  flexible (one day a week or month)
Time of day:  afternoon (4:00 - 6:00 p.m.)
Hours per month:  1-4
Positions needed:  1-2

ADVENTURE VOLUNTEER

Description:  Plan and lead a game or activity with the kids.
Weekdays:  flexible (one day a week or month)
Time of day:  afternoon (3:00 - 6:00 p.m.)
Hours per month:  1-4
Positions needed:  1-2

WISE Volunteer

Description:  This volunteer would be responsible for making weekly wellness calls to our seniors in our WISE (Wellness In Seniors Education) program.
Weekdays:  flexible
Time of day: flexible
Hours per week:  1 +/-
Positions needed:  1-2

OFFICE ASSISTANT

Description:  This volunteer opportunity will assist Wesley House staff with filing, phones, mailings, copying, and computer work.
Weekdays:  flexible
Time of day:  flexible (morning or afternoon)
Hours per week:  3-5
Positions needed:  1
 

GROUP OPPORTUNITIES

Below is a list of opportunities for groups who are interested in a service project.  Please contact our office at 865.524.5494 if you would like more information about the following opportunities:
  • Grounds work
  • Indoor facilities cleaning
  • Hosting a Grades Incentive Party
  • Monthly birthday celebrations
  • Holiday celebrations
  • Sponsoring a field trip
  • Providing breakfast or lunch on in-service days or in the summer
  • Providing table centerpieces (seasonal) for our senior lunches
