We are looking to summer in just a few weeks. Our kids have done well this semester and they have been studing hard.

Our children have received their grades last week and after totaling them, we had 80% of our Elementary students make the Honor Roll in their schools. None of our children had a grade below a “C” this grading period. 

This doesn’t occur because of some special curriculum or high ranking teachers. This happens because we give them attention, time, help, and praise in doing their school work.

We also began a new program segment this semester that we call Y.E.A.
(Youth Enrichment Activities). After doing their homework each day and receiving a tutoring lesson, we give our kids the chance to participate in a “club” of their choosing. Our clubs at this time are: Cooking, Golf, Chess, Journalism, and Technology. (These were chosen by the kids from a list of 15 options.)  Not only does this give them an opportunity to experience something new in their life, but these activities may become the basis for an interest that they carry on in life as a hobby or career.

It is our hope that you will be able to see the results of one of these clubs soon. The Journalism Club is going to being doing a student “blog” which will be linked to our homepage here on the web. (If the staff can figure out how to do this. HINT-HINT: we need some computer technology volunteer help!)

And as always, we invite you to come by and see and visit the Wesley House at anytime. There are opportunities for you to get involved from tutoring with the kids, to serving on our board and committees, to helping with special projects and or needs that we have. We will be updating our “Wish List” on a monthly basis. Please take a look and see if you and your family, class, civic club, or church might be able to help. We would love to get you involved with the greatest kids on earth.
